Algol

Long ago Algol was known as The Hero King. He managed to control Soul Edge only with his will and not get possessed by it. He used the sword for good. But his son, Arcturus, was jealous of his father's power and wanted it for himself. While Algol wasn't paying attention Arcturus stole Soul Edge and was possessed by it.

Algol fought with his possessed son and killed him in battle. Algol decided to create a sword, which could counter Soul Edge. Taking the shards of Soul Edge, which were left after the battle, he started creating the weapon. After many failed attempts Algol created Soul Calibur, but it cost Algol his life.

Algol's soul started to crave power after this. The tribe, which protected Soul Edge, purified Soul Calibur and sealed Algol's soul away keeping his thirst for power dormant.

In the future, when Soul Calibur and Soul Edge clashed with each other, Algol's soul awakened. By using the power released after the clash, Algol created a body for his soul and a tower, where he could reside. But this power could only last temporarily. Algol needed more power to keep his body. He needed the two legendary swords for this. He created two swords for himself in image of the weapons he remembered.

The tower Algol created started to attract many warriors from all over the world. Algol knew, that somewhere in those crowds of warriors, are the swords he's looking for.
