Astaroth

There was once a cult, which worshipped the god of war, Ares. Since Ares wanted to take the throne on Olympus by killing Zeus. He ordered the grand priest of the cult, Kunpaetku, to bring him Soul Edge, which he wanted to use to kill Zeus. Kunpaetku created a golem, Astaroth, and ordered him to retrieve the sword. But Kunpaetku had his own plans. He wanted to use Soul Edge to become a god himself. But Ares foresaw, that Kunpaetku could betray him, and possessed Astaroth with his minions.

Astaroth eventually found Soul Edge, but he lost part of himself when he fought Sophitia.

Considering the condition of Soul Edge, Astaroth thought, that Ares would not be very pleased with the sword. He decided to join forces with Nightmare and help him to gain strength. When he was ready to betray Nightmare and take the sword, Astaroth was killed by Maxi.

Years later, when Soul Edge started to re-emerge, Ares decided to resurrect Astaroth. When he was resurrected Astaroth was infused with the shards of Soul Edge, which gave him more power.

Later Kunpaetku found out that Astaroth didn't work as he intended him to he decided to curse him. But because Astaroth was stronger now he was able to fight back. Angered he decides to destroy the cult and his creator.

He attacked the cults temple, but Kunpaetku managed to escape. While he was escaping he told Astaroth, that he was just only a puppet, who was created in an image of a human. Astaroth found information, that the original human was called The White Giant. After this he destroyed the temple, lifting the curse and returning to his full strength.

After annihilating the cult he decides to find The White Giant, because if Astaroth was modelled in his image, then the man would be very powerful and his soul would give Soul Edge the needed to power to return to its full strength. He starts to search for this man, but in his mind he wants to kill him to become a unique being.

He found The White Giant, who was actually Rock, and almost killed him. He suddenly realized, that he was under Ares' control. All this information he went almost insane.

He was later approached by Tira. She offered him to join Nightmare. Astaroth knew, that Tira was just using him, but he decided to join Nighmare once again to devour souls of those who attack Ostrheinsburg.
