Gato constantly trained with his father when he was young, but after his father killed Gato's mother for an unknown reason, Gato decides to close his on on his former life and concentrates his efforts on getting revenge.

During the King Of Fighters 2003 tournament he was in the same team with Ryuji Yamazaki and Billy Kane. He disliked being in this team, but he was forced by Geese Howard, who threatened the life of Hotaru if Gato didn't cooperate. Once the tournament was over Gate left the team.

In the King Of Fighters XI tournament he was in a team with Tizok and B.Janet. He only joined because B.Janet said she has information regarding the whereabouts of Gato's father. After the tournament he left the team.

It is presumed that he lost his eyesight after king Of Fighters: Maximum Mayham tournament after an encounter with a mysterious man, who is believed to be his father.
